Who Was Nex Benedict?
Born on January 11, 2008, in El Paso, Texas, Nex’s journey led them to Owasso, Oklahoma, where they spent their formative years. As a sophomore at Owasso High School, Nex was a beacon of inspiration, known for their unwavering dedication to academics and their vibrant personality.
Nex’s identity as nonbinary was an integral part of who they were. Their preferred pronouns, they/them, reflected their authentic self, and their courage in living openly served as a source of strength for many. Despite the challenges they may have faced, Nex embraced their identity with grace and resilience.
Their passions extended to creative outlets such as drawing and gaming, with titles like Ark and Minecraft holding a special place in their heart. Their family fondly remembered Nex’s culinary skills, as they often concocted original recipes with flair and creativity.
The Tragedy
On Thursday, February 15, 2024, friends and family gathered at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso to honor Nex’s memory. Despite the somber occasion, their spirit was celebrated with love and fond memories.
