LayCee Houghton Barnett, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, left this world at the tender age of 28. LayCee’s unexpected passing on January 15, 2024, after a brief but valiant battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Born on March 29, 1995, in American Fork, Utah, LayCee’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. A graduate of Wasatch High School in 2013, she further pursued her passion for dance, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Performance from Southern Utah University in 2017.
LayCee’s Light and Legacy
LayCee’s presence was a beacon of light, her infectious smile brightening even the darkest days. Described as strong, a touch sassy, kind, and loving, LayCee made it her mission to ensure everyone felt included and valued. Dancing, one of her great loves, became a medium through which she shared her radiance with the world.
“Throughout her life, she shared this with everyone around her. You couldn’t help but smile when she entered the room, usually dancing her way in,” a close friend recalls.
A Love Story for the Ages
LayCee’s love story with her husband, Josh Barnett, was nothing short of magical. Their love flourished, culminating in a beautiful marriage on April 6, 2018, at the Bountiful LDS Temple.
The couple’s joy multiplied with the arrival of their twins, Abigail Grace and Shaylee Mae, in February 2021. LayCee, described as a “rockstar mother,” navigated the challenges of raising twins with grace and love.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, January 22nd, at noon at Lake Creek Farms Ward in Heber City, Utah, followed by a graveside burial ceremony at Memorial Lake View Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.
