Shortly before 9 a.m., Mesquite police were dispatched to an active shooter call, responding to reports of an armed individual entering the school. Helicopter footage revealed a significant police presence, including tactical gear and a SWAT-like police truck.
According to Mesquite police, the 16-year-old suspect was found alone in an office, refusing to disarm. Negotiations ensued, during which three officers fired shots at the suspect, leading to his compliance and subsequent arrest.
The suspect sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The nature of the injuries, whether from a bullet or shrapnel, remains unclear. The suspect will be transferred to the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center after treatment.
